a dream is a wish your heart makes.

A few things I've been dreaming about lately

potion ankle boot by jeffrey campell $144.95 (sold out)

daskal wedge boot from aldo shoes $69.98

These Jeffrey Campbell Potion ankle boots (top) have been the object of my obsession for quite some time now. But they are a wee bit out of my price range, not to mention you cannot find a pair to purchase anywhere. The pair on the bottom are Aldo's more affordable (read make my bank account happy) version and are on sale, so come next paycheck those pups will be mine.

chiffon oversized button-up from american apparel $58

It has been insanely hot here in Tallahassee this month and all I want to wear is nothing. But since that is illegal the next best thing is clothing that is loose and airy. I've seen this button down on numerous ladies whose blogs and style I admire and look to for inspiration. I think Tallahassee should prepare itself to experience this look on me. I've seen some on said ladies' fashion blogs that they got their button-downs from H&M which I can imagine are fairly inexpensively priced, but since they don't sell their clothing online I may be forced to buy it from American Apparel (shown above). I want it in black and navy!

red baggy trousers from pixie market $92

Red Hot Mamma, Laci, a friend of mine who writes the blog I throughly enjoy following, the linden buzz. She recently had a post about incorporating red items in her wardrobe and now I cannot seem to get it out of my head. Especially since I have been wanting red trousers for what seems like and eternity now. Since I am poor and have to resort to thrift stores I have yet to find the perfect pair.

vintage brown leather backpack on etsy already sold

vintage brown mini leather pak for sale on eBay, current bid $17.10

Backpacks are some sort of wonderful/comfortable. I'm considering making the switch from purse to backpack. Since I already insist upon only wearing purses with straps long enough to wear across my chest versus on one shoulder. I think a vintage looking brown/tan leather one from the 80s or 90s would be ideal. To me it gives off the "well-traveled" vibe. I want to be a flight attendant when I finish school so one day I can be well traveled. For now I can just look the part with a weathered leather backpack.
501 roll-up denim shorts in black by levi's

I've been on a serious hunt for some black denim shorts. By serious hunt I mean going to the Goodwill weekly to see if any have come in. Yesterday I scored some great white ones which were immediately cut shorter. They are just great every day shorts that look good, and help make the unbearable weather a tad more bearable.

vintage coral oversized blazer on etsy $18.00

When they weather gets a bit cooler I most certainly want to incorporate a peach or pastel pink over-sized blazer. I find the juxtaposition of the dainty and delicate colors made into a structured menswear quite edgy and interesting and there for must be worn on my body. (And MK has been photographed is wearing one so it has to be cool!)

picture sent to me via my buddy amanda, i dont know who this is but homegirl has some bitchin'  hair

I have always wondered what I would look like with blonde hair. Recently, I have been yearning to get it all bleached professionally. So that when it grows out I can then have blonde hair and black roots and everyone will think I look super chic or super trashy. Both of which I am perfectly fine with.

This is enough for right now. I will post another one of these wishlists later.

my jeans don't fit me any more.

But Tana's jeans do! I got to wear her white ripped ones last night. I love them, I need my own pair. They will be worn again on a night where pictures are taken.

nay cracks me up.

We went to Rokbar, for Tina's birthday last night. There were bottles of vodka and champagne with fireworks on them. There was dancing on white leather couches. There were friendships made with random girls in the bathroom I will never see again. There was a late night phone call that let me know someone had to be thinking of me. Ultimately, there was an unexpected but very much welcomed good time. Happy Birthday Tina!

this face

I always want to squeeze Mamasito's face so hard and rub noses with him. And when I get a mouthful of his fine hairs its so worth it.

Thursday, July 15, 2010

holy smokes.

Savannah was fantastic.

Saturday Ashleigh Marissa and I got a late start but it was a surprisingly short drive. We got to Carley's apartment without getting lost. All the buildings were so old and beautifully preserved. Went to a bar down town called Hang Fire (although I kept calling it Hang Time), and had a blast. Ashleigh ran away from us and spent the night in a dumpster, but that wasn't surprising. We collected her from her new friends on Sunday afternoon. I had this incredible pork burrito at this Mexican restaurant called Cilantro's on Bay Street where we met Amanda and Greg for a quick hello before they left back to Tallahassee. And then, before we knew it, it was time to get ready for the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's concert! Words cannot describe the magic that was their performance. Nick and they boys from Yo Soybean got to Savannah just as the concert finished, because they were actually playing at Hang Fire on Monday night (crazy right?). We went to a karaoke bar and drank, laughed some and even danced to the cupid shuffle. Monday morning came too soon and it was time to head back to Tallahassee. The moment we left we already missed Savannah, I'm sure we will embark on another journey there again in the near future.

2 more days until E. Sharpe.

On my test today my teacher asked us to write a Directional Hypothesis between money and happiness, and then to briefly explain it. So I wrote "The more money someone has the less likely they are to be happy." And my explanation, "Biggie said it best when he sang 'Mo Money Mo Problems', money can lead to an increase in a number of problems which is highly likely to cause unhappiness".

the cure to a hangover.

Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I will pass this lesson on to my children.

Thursday, July 1, 2010

a bit indecisive.

I changed my clothes 5 times today. I don't want to become attached to any one outfit, especially if it will go out of style quickly.

There is a leak in our ceiling.

**edit** BOUGHT TICKETS TO SEE EDWARD SHARPE AND THE MAGNETIC ZEROS IN SAVANNAH, GA ON JULY 11, 2010.

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Happy birthday Hamilton.

Yesterday was Tana's birthday. Yesterday night was quite entertaining to say the least.

Summer Reading.

I finally bought The Hobbit with the gift card from Barnes and Noble my mom gave me for Easter. Then went to Lake Ella to start reading it around 6:30pm. It was perfect out.

I love that I have time to read more than one book in the summer. Its what I look forward to.

little cakes.

I got to sleep until 11:45am today. Incredible. I woke up and took the longest shower. I proceeded to do my morning ritual of checking my e-mails and catching up on some blogs I follow and saw that Rachel was online. Since my blackberry has been out of commission since the day before my birthday I thought this was the best way to see she was up to today. To which she responded "I am going to get cupcakes. Do you want to come?" It is nearly impossible to refuse an offer like that. So off we went to Lucy and Leo's Cupcakery on Thomasville road. Rachel got a red velvet cupcake (along with a cookies and cream one for later) and I indulged in a chocolate expresso cupcake (I brought one home for Tana as well as a strawberry short-cupcake for Hailey). I found a picture from their website of the cupcake I had today.

I went to my parents house for dinner tonight. I tend to get bored easily there, so, I started rummaging through one of the dressers in the closet of the computer room and found this gem. Yes it says Hawaii 76. Yes it is from Hawaii. Yes it is 34 years old. It's from the bicentennial which makes this shirt even more spectacular. Obviously I am going to wear it on the 4th of July.

the sap in me has been exposed.

For my birthday my mom gave me the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I had never heard of it. I finished it today. The book is basically about following one's dream towards what the main character describes as everyone's "Personal Legend". I felt that the main character falling in love plays a big role in it.

The book was translated from Portuguese, (Coelho is from Brazil) and these excerpts really resonated in me. In some ways it gave me hope.

When Santiago sees Fatima for the first time at a well in the oasis;
Because, when you know that language [universal language], it's easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it's in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. With out such love, one's dreams would have no meaning.
Fatima telling Santiago he must pursue his treasure;
You have told me your dreams, about the old king and your treasure. And you've told me about omens. So now, I fear nothing, because it was those omens that brought you to me. And I am a part of your dream, a part of your Personal Legend, as you call it. That's why I want you to continue toward your goal. If you have to wait until the war is over, then wait. But if you have to go before then, go on in pursuit of your dream. The dunes are changed by the wind, but the desert never changes. That is the way it will be with our love for each other ... if I am really part of your dream, you'll come back one day.
The alchemist tells Santiago why he must continue on to find his treasure;
You've got to find your treasure, so that everything you have learned along the way can make sense.
You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his Personal Legend. If he abandons that pursuit, it is because it wasn't true love ... the love the speaks the Language of the World.
 Fatima's response to Santiago when he tries to explain to her why he loves her;
One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.
Santiago still has to tell her why he loves her;
So, I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.
The alchemist's response to Santiago on his choice of leaving Fatima behind to find his treasure;
If what one finds is made of pure matter, it will never spoil. And one can always come back. If what you have found was only a moment of light, like the explosion of a star, you will find nothing on your return.
The alchemist tells Santiago that he must listen to his heart because where his heart is that is where he will find his treasure.
"But my heart is agitated," the boy said. "It has its dreams, it gets emotional, and it's become passionate over a woman of the desert. It asks things of me, and it keeps me from sleeping many nights, when I'm thinking about her." "Well, that's good. Your heart is alive. Keep listening to what it has to say."
His heart told him that it was happy. "Even though I complain sometimes," it said, "it's because I'm the heart of a person, and people's hearts are that way. People are afraid to pursue their most important dreams, because they feel that they don't deserve them, or that they'll be unable to achieve them. We, their hearts, become fearful just thinking of loved ones who go away forever, or of moments that could have been good but weren't, or of treasures that might have been found but were forever hidden in the sands. Because, when these things happen, we suffer terribly." "My heart is afraid it will have to suffer," the boy told the alchemist on night as they looked up at the moonless sky. "Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams."
Santiago's heart speaking on why people's hearts seldom say much about people's treasures;
"... very few follow the path laid out for them - the path to their Personal Legends, and to happiness. Most people see the world as a threatening place, and, because they do, the world turns out, indeed, to be that threatening place."
other snippets
... when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too ... when we love, we always strive to become better than we are.
... everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time.

June is when all the cool babies were born.

June started out pretty crummy. On the 1st I woke up with an pain so horrible in my lower back that it made me throw up. My mom came over to my house and took me to the doctor. Turns out I had a kidney infection. PARTY! Any how the rest of the month was much better, here is the gist of it.

Friday, June 4, 2010
John Day had everyone over for some barbecue at his house. I drank a lot of coffee and got really hyper. The food was delish. Greg and Taylor choreographed some sick dance moves.

Saturday, June 5, 2010
An attempt to go to lay out by the pool was shot down by mother nature. Instead Tana, Amanda and I went to Old Navy and bought some (super cheap) bathing suits!

Sunday, June 6, 2010
I receive weekly e-mails from NYLON magazine and this weeks had a "Mixology" article about a nail lacquer that all the Chanel model's were wearing on the runway during the Spring '10 collection show during fashion week. I mixed my own but I really want the real thing.

Tuesday, June 8, 2010
Finally I got to lay out in the sun, and proceeded to get sunburnt! I just finished my antibiotics so it was time to go out an play. Went to 101 with some friendlies and ashleigh had red glitter that I put on my lips because I wanted to look like that beauty up there. I am sure I didn't but it was fun regardless.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Quote of the day from Sean Hampton "I was eating raisins and gave some to one of the girls at work. She said they were off the chain. I told her they were off the vine."

Thursday, June 10, 2010
Secret lovers. I caught them. Peeki and Booz.

Saturday, June 12, 2010
Boys came into town to visit (Leif, Luis and Cole). We drove out to the springs, walked forever in the heat being attacked by mosquitoes, swam in water so cold Sam's lips turned purple and we all had just a marvelous time.

Sunday, June 13, 2010
True Blood season 3 premier. Ray Charles was making me happy as well this day.

Monday, June 14, 2010
24 years old! Birthday Bunny.

Friday, June 18, 2010
Happy Birthday Heather! My lovely starving actress, making it big in LA. I will be out there soon(ish). This was also the last day of Summer School Session B. I finished my last assignment after my last final at midnight and celebrated by drinking some PBRs and working on my inspiration board.

Saturday, June 19, 2010
Mikey and Anica came to town and I tagged along with them and Ashleigh and Tyler to Bear Paw. I have never been with such a small group. Ashleigh got stung by a wasp, Mikey fell face first on the cooler, half way through one of the rafts started to deflate so I swam the rest of the way and cut up my legs and feet (I still have bruises on my legs). It was fantastic, I love nature and I want to go again this weekend.

Monday, June 21, 2010
Nay came over to our house and we went to DQ and Sonic to get our usual Monday night ice cream. The we watched our MY future husband Billy Crudup in Jesus' Son. What a dream boat.

Tuesday, June 22, 2010
Saw MC Chris at Big Daddy's. Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, we were totally out of place. Wild time.

I am so bad at this.

The past eight weeks have been total insanity. Spring semester finished, only to be followed by hell compared to what I expected to be a relaxing summer. But this isn't a place to gripe, so I have racked my brain and with the help of facebook, my phones photo album and my bank account I am recollecting the best of everyday (some days may be left out) from the past eight weeks. Starting the day after my last post.

con·cu·pis·cent

Wednesday, May 5, 2010
Cinco de Mayo! Vanessa's birthday! Went to Mocking Birds with Tana and Nay. Became officially obsessed with the word concupiscent (although it took us about an hour to pronounce it correctly).

Friday, May 7,  2010
Found this gem at First Friday with Tana.

Saturday, May 8, 2010
Had the biggest coke I could buy from Whataburger. Took a picture to make Hailey jealous. I know I am a good friend.

Monday, May 10, 2010
First day of Summer Session B. Four classes in six weeks; Monday - Friday 12:30pm - 6:00pm, International Relations, Public Policy, Comparative Governments, American Government. Riveting.

Tuesday, May 11, 2010
Played Jeopardy in my International Relations class. It got pretty competitive. My team won.

Wednesday, May 12, 2010
Double feature with Hailey. Two for the price of one! What rebels.

Thursday, May 13, 2010
Figured out I will survive 4 classes smashed into a 6 week period thanks to the venti iced coffee with soy milk from Starbucks.

Saturday, May 15, 2010
Taylor has a newfound obsession for everything American. So obviously we have an America themed party and dressed like white trash. (Miles' alter ego is called America)

Sunday, May 16, 2010
My roommates and I are eco-friendly twinkies. Stainless steel water bottles from World Market.

Monday, May 17, 2010
Went grocery shopping at Publix for the first time in who knows how long. Tana Hailey and I walked there. I forgot we walked there and proceeded to buy 30lbs + of groceries which I had to carry back home. It was worth it.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Skipped school and went to Hiro's with Hailey. Homegirl and her sweet tooth, always has a hankering for Taro fro-yo. My person favorite, passion fruit with mango (or peach) fro-yo with chunks of cheese cake, bits of granola and strawberries.

Thursday, May 20, 2010
Went to Monk's with the ladies. We sat outside on the pic-nic benches (Tina didn't break one this time) and I got to wear my new Free People jumper I bought at Urban Thread.

Saturday, May 22, 2010
The gang went to hang out at Tina's pool. A bunch of lbk's infiltrated, and I couldn't get over this one who was wearing white sweat pants (with no underwear)!

Sunday, May 23, 2010
After 5 years of watching LOST (I started when season 2 was airing), it all culminated in the series finale. I still cannot believe it is over. I almost cried but I thought Tana and Taylor might have made fun of me, so I didn't.

Monday, May 24, 2010
If you know me, you know I always have to have my nails polished. I love nail polish and have a drawer dedicated to all my lacquers. So when I saw this at CVS I had to further feed my nail polish obsession because I finally found the perfect mauve to add to my collection.

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Ashleigh and I have a go to spot in Strozier Library. I don't know if this is amazing or depressing. I going to go with amazing, since I am furthering my education.

Friday, May 28, 2010
After taking 2 gruesome tests, I meet up with some buds for Happy Hour at Potbelly's, then we added some more buds and grabbed dinner at Gordo's after we all went and had a wild time at Water Works. Memorial Day Weekend had officially begun.

Saturday, May 29, 2010
Perfect hang-over breakfast with Tommy and John Day at canopy road. Two eggs sunny-side up (with hot sauce), biscuits and gravy, and bacon ... yum, yum, yuuuuuuum!

Sunday, May 30, 2010
Crazy night at bigs. Rachel wouldn't stop buying shots.

Monday, May 31, 2010
Memorial Day! Watched Dexter all day, and bought an amazing bathing suit bottom from American Apparel.

Well, that was May in a nut shell. June is coming soon. Not like anyone reads this.

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

diamonds on the soles of her shoes

Ok, so finals week really got the best of me (even though I promised myself I wouldn't let it). I was so tightly wound that I couldn't let myself completely unwind the weekend that followed. Now, I'm sitting at work (alone) during the lunch hour and I WILL come up with one thing that made me happy each day for the past two weeks! Here is everything that I missed chronicling.

Wednesday, April 21, 2010
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros put up new tour dates and they will be playing in Atlanta, Georgia on July 10th. My heart swelled with joy at this news, and I am planning my escape from Tallahassee for that weekend.

Thursday, April 22, 2010
Hung out with Ashleigh and Tyler the night before (they came over at midnight so technically it was the 22nd) so I was suffering a from post-over-alcohol-intake. But I was happy because I always have a great time when I hang with those two and I felt I hadn't done that in a while.

Friday, April 23, 2010
My parents went to Miami for the weekend and asked me to stay at their house and watch/feed the animals. Of course like a good daughter I obliged. On Friday afternoon Nay, Tom and John Day came and we sat out by the pool, soaked in the sun, and drank 40s. Summer has officially begun!

Saturday, April 24, 2010
I spent 2 hours giving myself and mani-pedi.

Sunday, April 25, 2010
Harvey watched a movie with me.

Monday, April 26, 2010
I worked 7 hours at the Animal Hospital. They were the only measly hours I worked last week and my paycheck is sure to be light. But it was nice to not work the rest of the week and just focus on my finals.

Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Nick called and told me he was coming to Tallahassee for the weekend!

Wednesday, April 28, 2010
Took my Managerial Accounting final, and I did fantastic! I was so scared and anxiety ridden for that class the entire semester so it was such a great feeling to be done with it. (Above picture was right before the test! I had to take a picture of  my weapons for battle.)

Thursday, April 29, 2010
Tom's birthday! Tana and I finally hung out with our new friend from Speech class on the last day we will probably ever see him (after our Speech final).

Friday, April 30, 2010
Took my last final for Spring 2010. Lynette rolled into town as soon as I finished. Nick found me. The girls had a Mary Kay party and we did face masks and bought make-up (Anti-Aging Eye Cream is where its at). Leif showed up! I was complimented on my outfit and drank lots of wine.

Saturday, May 1, 2010
Tana and Taylor graduated! It was time to celebrate.  Complete with 3am face painting session.

Sunday, May 2, 2010
Went to Monk's with friends. We sat outside and took up two picnic tables. Apparently the wood was rotting on one of the benches because it gave out under Tina and we all had a serious belly laugh at her expense. Poor Tina! I apparently got my second wind around midnight because I wanted to go out again. Went to an intriguing gathering in a room with flashing lights, no a/c or ventilation. These kids were sitting around playing the keyboard and guitar while singing "Freedom" (just the word). They were talking about anarchy and the revolution. After that insane overload of  mind body and soul, I went to play Super Nintendo Jeopardy Junior. We were all laughing so hard and kicked some serious Jeopardy Junior booty.

Monday, May 3, 2010
All the loose change that kept falling out of Nicholas' pockets this weekend.
